What is the Medicare Savings Program?

When Michigan residents are struggling to make ends meet, it can be easy to let certain expenses fall to the wayside. According to the Michigan Department of Community Health, the Medicare Savings Program is a program that allwos certain residents to receive extra income assistance. Under the program, residents might be eligible for reimbursement of up to $1,100 in Medicare expenses. This money can then be used to help them pay for other bills or living expenses.

To qualify, residents must have a monthly income that is at least 135 percent below the Federal Poverty Level. They must also qualify for Medicare Part A.
